MISSION STATEMENT

The Good Shepherd Foundation shall... Seek to provide the financial resources needed to sustain and enhance the health and the well-being of those who choose to become a part of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Services organization. As a committed partner with Good Shepherd Lutheran Services, the Foundation shall provide these resources under the tenets of our Christian heritage, to people of all ages, without bias toward religious belief or circumstance of life. |

WHAT ARE WE DOING? The Foundation provides financial support in areas that need more than basic funding. Improvements of services, emergency funding for equipment and facility are important to Good Shepherd’s present and future well-being and the well-being of its residents, staff and children.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE?           
- The Foundation has purchased many items for the benefit of residents, children and staff of the Good Shepherd Community. All these items are meant to enhance the living conditions for our residents; the safety and enjoyment of the facility for our child care children; the working conditions safety and performance of our excellent dedicated staff. Purchases we've made- a 15 passenger bus, touring 4 passenger cart, closed circuit TV system, electric resident beds, bed mattresses and chair pads, rooms of resident furniture, facility carpet and common area furniture, electronic safety equipment, wheelchairs and walkers, office & technology equipment, garden plants and furniture, dietary furniture and equipment, activity educational equipment, entertainment equipment and supplies, facility decorations for area enhancement, handicapped accessible doors, child care supplies & equipment, a walking garden enclosure, garden landscaping, new child care playground equipment, new whirlpool therapy tubs for residents and much more.
- Services - Nursing, child care teacher and general staff scholarships, remodeling assistance, volunteer assistance and operational funding support.
Future projects and service improvements:
Technology - Replacing computers and computer software that will save staff time and improve staff performance. Computerized Notebooks for Nursing Home Med Carts and computerized Resident Dietary Tray Cards are essential to our technology improvements.
Emergency generator, improved sprinkler system and other facility improvements - Supply emergency power in case of a power outage to the entire Good Shepherd facility. Install a completed sprinkler system throughout the facility. Maintain and improve the existing buildings and grounds.
Resident beds, furniture and nursing equipment- Replace older hand crank adjustable beds with new electric motorized adjustable resident beds. (Over 60 beds have been replaced.) Replace dated and damaged furniture in resident rooms. Replace four 30 year old whirlpool therapy tubs; two have been replaced, 2 to go!
New resident room furniture- Replace 40 year old furniture in resident rooms and around the facility with more functional and up-to-date individual peices.

2010 Good Shepherd Golf Classic
Is scheduled for Saturday August 14, 2010 at the Ferndale Golf Club in Rushford. The Classic will raise money for the Good Shepherd Nursing Home furniture fund. All cash donations will go toward replacing old furniture that has been in use since the 1960's and 1970's. We hope to raise $15,000.00 for this project.
All golfers will play 18 holes, receive participation prizes, play for 9 different hole game prizes, shoot for TWO $5,000.00 HOLE-IN-ONE PRIZES and have a chance to enter other special contests.
