Good Shepherd Lutheran Services Irish Dance Activities
At Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, you’ll find many opportunities to socialize, learn, work and have fun. The creative Activities staff are on hand to make sure your stay is eventful and full of challenges!
Sweetheart Banquet Root River Trail Wagon Ride
Stay Sharp:  Weekly word games and mystery personality riddles help to keep minds sharp and ideas spinning.  “Discover” classes help residents to review their knowledge and learn new things about our world.

Keep Fit:  Whether you choose the “Shape-Up” exercise routine or the “Walk-The-Loop” walking route, there are always ways to gain strength and improve flexibility.

Take a Ride:  A bus ride twice a month takes our residents to their favorite places for locally-made desserts, shopping, or just sightseeing in the countryside.  Our residents love the annual fishing trip to Sylvan Park in Lanesboro, as well as the hay wagon ride along the Root River Bike Trail.

Enjoy the Holidays: Residents enjoy celebrating the holidays.  The staff and area volunteers host many exciting events, such as a Sweetheart Supper at Valentine’s Day, Irish dancers on St. Patrick’s Day, monthly birthday parties, Halloween dress-up events and a festive Christmas calendar.

Socialize:  Pen pals, ice cream socials, Happy Hour, Men’s Group, campfires, s’mores, 4-H animal demonstrations–these are just a few of the opportunities made available to residents to enrich their social and community horizons.

Interact:  Young and old frequently come together, with family members invited to participate in many of the Home activities.  An active pen pal and Adopt-a-Grandparent program connects area school-agers with residents who enjoy their companionship.  Daily visits from the Good Shepherd Child Care allows infant and toddler contacts for those who enjoy that age group.

Be Entertained:  Musicians and performers throughout the area enjoy bringing their talents to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.  Pianists, harpists and family ensembles are only part of the fun.  Residents enjoy sing-a-longs and bell choir participation.  And Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the visits from community carolers.

Worship:  Residents have an opportunity for worship each Sunday with visiting ministers from the community, and Bible studies are held every 1st and 3rd Wednesdays. Regular pastoral visits and communion services are made available to meet the spiritual needs of each
resident, and family and
friends are encouraged
to join in.
